CUTS Institute for Regulation and Competition (CIRC) offers an internship programme in Competition Law and Policy for students and young professionals interested in research, policy, and regulatory issues.

CIRC primarily focuses on competition policy and law, economic regulation in infrastructure sectors, and public policy, with an objective of reaching out to stakeholders in India and other developing countries in Asia and Africa.

Since its inception, CIRC has undertaken several trainings, seminars, public lectures, and research initiatives on competition policy and law in India and abroad, and continues to contribute to knowledge-building in this field.

About the Internship

This internship is offered for graduate students, law students, post-graduate students, economists, and candidates with a relevant understanding of competition law and policy.

Interns are expected to dedicate their time, talent, and creativity to assigned work. In return, they gain valuable learning opportunities and experience that support both academic and professional growth. A supervisor is assigned to oversee the work and ensure a structured research agenda during the internship period.

Position Details

Job Role

The internship programme involves the following:

  • Learning opportunities in research methodology training
  • Assisting in developing research proposals and presentations for the research team
  • Assisting CIRC teams in ongoing research projects
  • Writing research papers on relevant issues for the CIRC website/blog
  • Interacting with experts and academicians at government and independent organisations
  • Active participation in various initiatives and events at CIRC

Note: All interns are required to submit a paper on a related subject of approximately 10,000 words. CIRC retains the right to publish such work in its publications with due acknowledgement of authorship.

Skills / Experience / Qualifications Required

An ideal candidate should:

  • Be a law graduate, pursuing a Master’s in Law, or an economist/candidate with a relevant understanding of competition law and policy
  • Be innovative and practical
  • Have strong research aptitude, excellent writing skills, and good communication skills
  • Have working proficiency in MS Excel, MS Word, and PowerPoint
  • Have good command of the English language
