CUTS Institute for Regulation & Competition (CIRC) invites applications from suitable candidates for the position of Fellow (Economics).

The position is intended to help the CIRC team further the mandate of the Institute by providing research-based capacity-building solutions in the areas of Competition Policy and Law and Economic Regulation. The Institute promotes understanding and learning at the interface of law and economics.

The Fellow (Economics) will lead the team in research studies, conduct fieldwork, and design, develop, and execute innovative training/academic programmes and conferences in niche areas including regulation, competition law, procurement, and intellectual property.

Qualifications and Experience

Candidates holding a Ph.D. or a post-graduate degree in Economics, with demonstrable experience in public policy and/or competition law for a minimum of five years, are encouraged to apply.

Job Profile and Responsibilities

Fellow (Economics) at CIRC is expected to:

  • Lead a team in conducting research (desk and field research) and other related activities to effectively deliver customised research and capacity-building solutions to CIRC clients.
  • Supervise the team during fieldwork for engaging with stakeholders, data collection, and analysis.
  • Write and ensure high-quality research publications from the team, including course modules, research reports, briefing papers, monographs, and articles.
  • Take overall responsibility for the development and delivery of courses in the core areas.
  • Lead the organisation of research events and conferences, and prepare outreach material for social and print media.
  • Organise and attend events/workshops.
  • Liaise with regulators and industry for research projects as well as capacity-building events and training programmes.
  • Implement specific activities as assigned from time to time in the course of discharging duties.

Proficiency in both written and spoken English, excellent communication skills, and working knowledge of computer applications are essential. Familiarity with software such as Microsoft Word, PowerPoint, and Excel is required.

Compensation

CIRC offers an attractive compensation package in the not-for-profit sector, commensurate with the candidate’s qualifications and experience.

Location

The position is based in New Delhi. Travelling around India, with potential for international travel related to projects and conferences, is expected.
