The enforcement of Competition Law and its pervasive presence
across the sectors and business functions is creating a high
demand for competition compliance. This has led CIRC and NLUD
to collaborate to offer these courses on Competition Policy
and Law (CPL).
CPL courses are specially designed for practitioners, working
professionals and students of Law, Business Management,
Economics, Chartered Accountancy (CA) and Company Secretaryship
(CS), to acquire deep understanding and knowledge of competition
law and related issues.
Two courses are being offered by CUTS Institute for Regulation &
Competition (CIRC) and National Law University, Delhi (NLUD).
Certificate Course on Competition Policy and Law

Weekend classes are held in Delhi – but not mandatory. Course material will be given by hand or post.
The Certificate Course in Competition Policy and Law is a
fundamental course dealing primarily with markets and business
laws, competition policy and law, in general, and the
Competition Act, 2002 as amended in detail. The certificate
course also covers fundamentals of Economics essential for
studying competition law.
The Diploma Course in Competition Policy and Law is an advanced
course dealing, in detail, with topics related to abuse of
dominance, anti-competitive agreements, and regulation of
combination across select jurisdictions.. The participants of
Diploma course are exposed to emerging issues such as: interface
between IPRs and competition law, cross border issues, and
issues related to business strategy.
The courses, duly accredited by the National Law University,
Delhi, are designed to deliver knowledge and skills relating to
Competition Policy and Law to the participants and open up new
employment opportunities in Competition Authorities, Regulatory
Bodies, Law Firms, Businesses, Research Bodies, etc.

Outline of the Certificate and Diploma Courses on Competition Policy and Law
First four modules form part of the Certificate Course on Competition Policy and Law. All the eight modules would be covered in the Diploma Course on Competition Policy and Law.
Module 1 Markets and Competition
Unit 1: Introduction to Business Laws in India
Unit 2: Introduction to Economic Concepts
Unit 3: Introduction to Competition Law and Competition Policy
Resource Materials & Teaching Methodology
Intensive teaching methodology comprising classroom interactions, lectures, case studies, structured group discussions, panel discussions and presentations from experts in the field is employed and sessions are designed in a way to facilitate maximum interaction between participants and resource persons. Maximum usage of real-life cases has been referred in the modules. In addition, participants will be given group exercise and assignments to apply the learnt skills.
Study material will be provided to all the participants in hard copies including course material, lecturer’s presentations, case studies and other additional material on ongoing basis.
Apart from the Study material and presentation related to the course modules, weekly newsletters are sent to the participants to keep them abreast of the recent trends and developments in the field.
Professional skills from the courses
These Courses on Competition Policy and Law are specially designed to equip participants with the knowledge required for:
• Application of economic tools and techniques in competition analysis
• Analytical skills to comprehend issues relating to business strategy and
competition policy & law
• Understanding of substantive issues relating to competition laws of India and
• Understanding of emerging issues emanating from Intellectual Property Laws, Cross-borderissues, and their interface with competition laws.
The following criteria will be
followed while admitting participants to both the courses:
Certificate Course in Competition Policy and Law
Applicant must have completed 10+2 from any recognised board.
Diploma Course in Competition Policy and Law
Graduation in any discipline from a recognised University; or Students in final year of Graduation; or Students who have completed three years of graduation programme of five year integrated programme.
|Overseas candidates applying for either Certificate or Diploma Course should have graduated from a recognized university. Regarding the recognition status of the foreign university, the student should produce the relevant document/declaration along with his application.
